I was worried when the site went down since I couldn't find anything about why it was down. Anyone know why the site was down, or how long it's been back up for?

i have the backup data of the site. i will bring it back if we do go offline but i cant say timeframes.
if the site goes offline i will say more to this on my artist account.
i will not approve submissions right now so they are admin only.
i would say dont write wiki articles right now either.

Hey everyone. Sorry for the downtime. It was unfortunately avoidable.

The technical reason is that it seems like the site didn't renew the HTTPS certificate automatically as expected. This happened sometime in August. When the site was unreachable because of that, the script that reboots the booru couldn't figure out what to do. So everything crashed,and didn't come back up.

However, the real reason was that I myself was offline and wasn't checking anything to prevent this. That means there was no notice due to my inattentiveness.

To try and make it up in some small way, I attempted updating the e621 software to the latest version. This was buggy the first time around, but I tried again and it's looking better now.

Right now, @DroneDartDrain-TC and I are trying to figure out how to keep the site operating for its second year. I'm handing over some of the hosting control for this and if people are still invested in the site then these issues are less likely.

On the brighter side, I provided full backups of the site once I brought it back. In the worst case scenario DDD can find a way to restore it with those files.

Hopefully you will have more freedom and confidence going forward. I'll try to be more accessible too. Thank you.
